Santa Pod Raceway CEO Keith Bartlett spoke at the reception prior to the dinner and induction ceremony:
Keith opened the evening with some highlights of the 2024 season and how the future is looking good for Santa Pod Raceway.
Keith spoke about the new museum he is planning to build and announced his latest addition to the museum, the 1970's Don GARLITS Dragster. The dragster was revealed from its covers by Don GARLITS daughter Donna GARLITS and CHUCK KEPPEL the General Manager of the Don Garlits Museum of Drag Racing in Florida.
BDRHoF Chair Lesley Wright commenced the ceremony by saying Good evening everyone. A very warm welcome to our honoured guests and sponsors to our 18th annual British Drag Racing Hall of Fame Induction Ceremony. In particular I would like to welcome one of our International Ambassadors - Donna Garlits.
Thank you, Keith Bartlett, for making this possible and for choosing our evening to unveil the newest addition to your collection and for bringing such an iconic car back to our shores.
A warm welcome too to Motorsport UK’s Race, Speed and Kart Executive, CHERYL LYNCH.
Fund raising for the British Drag Racing Hall of Fame Benevolent Fund has seen new impetus and for this we must thank Colin Theobald and Nikki Marshall. The fund has helped 6 people this year and your generous purchase of raffle tickets today will help us to be able to provide more support in the future.
Colin Theobald says "We are privileged to have genuine drag racing royalty in the room with us. In 1964, the International Dragfest brought leading American stars to Britain for the first time, and the greatest of those stars was Don Garlits. Donna GARLITS is joined by her daughter, SARAH, and by her cousin, CHUCK KEPPEL, the General Manager of the Don Garlits Museum of Drag Racing in Florida.
Donna also serves as an International Ambassador for our Hall of Fame. A year ago, another of our International Ambassadors was here with us, sadly for the last time. RON HOPE died in June. Best known as the owner and driver of RAT TRAP, the Fuel Altered, Ron was also a great friend and supporter of British drag racing in general and of our Hall of Fame in particular. And it was thanks to Ron that Don Garlits was invited to appear at the Goodwood Festival of Speed in 2015.
Donna said a few words about Ron and to propose a toast in his memory. And at the same time we’ll remember our departed Members, ROGER GORRINGE and GERALD COOKSON. Winston Churchill said: “We make a living by what we get, but we make a life by what we give.”
Ron Hope definitely made a life. He was one of the most giving persons I’ve ever known. My last phone conversation with Ron, right before his 80th birthday… he said:
“Donna, it has been an honour to know you.” To which I responded: “No, Ron, the honour has been all mine and we will see each other again.”
COLIN THEOBALD continued saying with "Our gathering here tonight takes place entirely thanks to a group of companies and individuals who recognise and understand the work the Hall of Fame does and what it seeks to achieve. Ladies and gentlemen – our sponsors, without whose involvement the Hall of Fame would not exist..
Our Gala evening mainly celebrates drag racing’s past, but we like to spare a moment to celebrate its future too. Each year we welcome Junior Dragster and Junior Dragbike champions and their runners-up, and our welcome is shared by supporters who recognise their importance to the future of our sport.
We are grateful to those supporters, Lucas Oil and Philip Evans’ company Atlantic Fluid Tech, and to Santa Pod Racers Club which each year kindly provides the trophies that we present.
In 2021, in memory of our late Founding Chairman, Stu Bradbury, we inaugurated the Stuart Bradbury Junior Drag Racing Awards. Each season’s Junior Dragster and Junior Dragbike champions and runners-up receive a commemorative trophy in Stu’s memory, and a financial award.
For many years, Stu and Bev Bradbury were the linchpins of the organisation, and Bev continues her essential work in preparing this evening’s celebration as a director of the Hall of Fame. So to present the Stuart Bradbury Junior Drag Racing Awards, please welcome to the stage – BEV BRADBURY.
This year no fewer than 31 young entrants contested the Lucas Oil Junior Dragster Championship over six intense rounds of racing. To finish at the top in such competitive surroundings is an outstanding achievement.
For our new champion, this will be a familiar walk up to the stage. Twice now he has made this journey as championship runner-up. This year it’s third time lucky, though it’s taken more than good luck to earn this championship. Please welcome our 2024 Lucas Oil Junior Dragster Champion –
LUKE MUGRIDGE, together with his Championship runner-up, TED SULLIVAN.
Ladies and gentlemen, please congratulate Junior Dragster Champion LUKE MUGRIDGE and runner-up TED SULLIVAN
On two wheels, 16 young racers contested the ACU UK Junior Dragbike Championship. Again, finishing at the top after six tightly competitive rounds is an outstanding achievement.
And it’s another familiar walk to the stage – runner-up in 2021, champion in 2022, and now UK Junior Dragbike Champion once again in 2024.HOLLIE KING and her runner-up DECLAN BUTT.
ROBIN JACKSON says: "Over 18 years, the British Drag Racing Hall of Fame has inducted 84 new Members. By the end of this evening, that number will have risen to 89. However, while we have five new Members to induct, sad to say, only four can be present.
As some of you may know, JOHN SPUFFARD has had some medical treatment and has asked if we might postpone his presentation till next year. Of course we shall. But for the record, while he will receive his Bootsie trophy in a year’s time, our most storied Funny Car racer is now formally the 85th Member of the British Drag Racing Hall of Fame, so next time you see him, feel free to congratulate him.
We’re filming this for John to see at home, so please, as a mark of our respect and affection, let’s offer him the round of applause he truly deserves to cheer him on his way.
ROBIN JACKSON continues: From the start, STRAIGHTLINERS have offered a ‘stepping-stones’ approach for new riders and drivers into the sport of drag racing, and the driving force behind this organisation has been Trevor Duckworth.
As a competitor, Trevor rode various motorcycles over the past 50 years, winning many club and national championships and breaking many FIM World Records. He has always endeavoured to find a way to help and encourage those wishing to start out in drag racing.
Since the 1990s, Straightliners have helped bring public recognition to various competition motorcycle series and, under Trevor’s guidance, have run safe, grass-roots motorsports events with widespread success.
They have also pioneered drag racing with modified Japanese and European cars and have developed a handling course at Yorkshire’s ‘home of speed’, Elvington Aerodrome.
They provide opportunities to all manner of age groups and capabilities, from junior racers to legends of the sport on classic machinery.
Although the organisation now has a permanent home at Melbourne, they continue staging events at a range of temporary venues – on the UK mainland at Esholt Park, Smeatharpe, Campbeltown, Llanbedr, Dishforth, Woodbridge, North Weald, Waterbeach, Sandtoft, Sculthorpe, East Kirby, Perranporth and Kirkbride; on the Isle of Man, at Jurby and the world-famous Ramsey Sprint; while in Northern Ireland, Enniskillen, Bishops Court and Abbeyshrule have come under the
Straightliners banner. Straightliners also run Top Speed events at Elvington: the week-long World Records Speed Week and the annual Speed Show which begins the season in February.
Bootsie trophy was present to the Straightliners by Britain’s maestro of the Top Fuel Motorcycle, ten times the FIM European Top Fuel champion and an honoured Member of the British Drag Racing Hall of Fame IAN KING.
Robin Jackson introduces the next honours: Lest anyone doubt that drag racing is a family sport, the example of the Huxley family will set you straight. From an early age, father of the clan Brian Huxley has loved all things auto-American and his continuing thirst for speed has spilled over to his three sons – Lee, Darren and Marc have all competed in various motorsport disciplines: drag racing, drifting and gymkhana.
After 10 years racing on grass in Jalopy Racing, as it was known in the swinging ’70s, Brian entered drag racing in 1981 at Long Marston Raceway, driving a ’69 Ford Mustang called CanDo.
Next up was a Toyota Corolla powered by a small-block Ford which ran low-12s but, over time and given hefty doses of nitrous, ultimately clocked high-10s. At the same time Brian imported a Mitsubishi Colt Sapporo from Florida for 9.90 Super Gas racing, powered by a nitrous big-block Ford.
While the Colt was good, Brian convinced eldest son Lee to race his street-and-strip Model B in a shared father-and-son partnership switching between 10.90 Super Street and Mod/Pro ET classes. Top Banana – The Roadster carried both Brian and Lee to a shelf-full of Sportsman championship trophies.
In 2008 the Roadster was sold to make way for the ex-Tim Hines, Pro Mod Ford Sierra, Top Banana Too. Then, Brian and Lee (helped by Marc and his company Huxley Motorsports) introduced the family’s most successful car to date, a full tube-chassis, glass-fibre ’68 Ford Mustang Fastback, also imported from Florida. Dark Horse has earned the pair countless championships and class wins.
In 2003, Marc began racing a MK1 Escort Mexico and then a Toyota Celica in Sportsman ET. The smoky, sideways world of drifting began calling and Marc and the Toyota have excelled in British and European championships. Darren has also recently taken up Drag and Drift with a Nissan 180.
And in 2021, Marc completed CanDo 2: Reborn, a modern version of Brian’s original Toyota Corolla, which debuted at the place where it all began 40 years earlier, Long Marston.
The Bootsie trophy was presented to the Huxleys by former Shakespeare County Raceway promotions manager, and director, selector and Member of the Hall of Fame JERRY COOKSON.
Next up with Robin introducing are Ray Baskerville and Peter Miller began racing within a year of each other at Santa Pod and would go on to contribute to the sport’s evolution by pioneering new development methods.
In his teens, Ray learned engineering skills repairing American cars. His first race bikes were BSAs but a technical issue forced a change to Triumphs. In 1969 he was among the first dragbike racers to visit Sweden. Ray made heads, cranks and a gear-coupler for twin-engined machines. A car overdrive unit for dragbike use was a European first. His bike clocked 10 seconds flat and 146mph on methanol.
Peter Miller started racing in 1967 on a 500cc Triumph. In the 1970s, his innovative skills delivered 10.1 seconds at 135mph on methanol. Peter also wrote bike reports for BDR&HRA’s Kool Kams magazine.
Running nitro in 1972, Peter set the official 500cc world record at 9.93 seconds. The bike, known as Mendusa, won many Top Bike races against bigger opposition and earned Peter the BDR&HRA championship and the Motorcycle Drag Racer of the Year Award. He retired the bike with 9.5 second, 142mile-an-hour bests.
Friends through racing, Ray and Peter teamed up as BM to construct a new bike. Their BM Elephant 900cc motor was Britain’s first purpose-built dragbike engine, utilising their own slipper clutch and a two-speed transmission among other parts. Peter clocked 9.6sec on nitro.
Several dragbikers used the transmission items, notably Stefan Reisten, the first to record a 7-second time in the UK. Peter manufactured the clutches and two-speeds in his home workshop.
Ray and Neil provide and operate the start rollers for Dragstalgia’s classic dragbikes. Together they’ve restored the bikes of fellow Hall of Fame Member, the late Dennis Norman, and helped resurrect the ex-TC Christenson/John Gregory Hogslayer double Norton to run at this year’s Dragstalgia.
To present the Bootsie trophy to RAY and PETE, The maestro of the Top Fuel Motorcycle from an earlier era, a legend of motorcycle sprinting and drag racing, and himself an honoured Member of the British Drag Racing Hall of Fame JOHN HOBBS.
Robin introduces Martin Hill and says: You immediately think “Jet Cars”. With four decades’ experience of all things jet, it’s easy to understand why. This year the FireForce brand has celebrated 35 years. But where did it all begin?
Born in Mexborough, South Yorkshire, Martin began work as a coal miner when he was 16. In his spare time, he loved taking to the Yorkshire roads on his motorbike. It wasn’t long before Martin ventured into drag racing. Aged 19, he built his first competitive bike and, during six years of racing in the street class of bikes, became the second fastest rider in the country. And then, a new project launched a career that would span 41 years and counting. At Santa Pod, Martin had seen the Hellbender and Vampire Jets in action and an idea formed.
In his parents’ backyard, he built a Jet Dragster – the first of its kind in the North of England. Martin built the car from scratch in just 16 weeks. It debuted in 1983 at York Raceway and soon had achieved speeds just shy of 200mph. Realising this jet, by design, was never going to go as fast as he wanted, Martin scrapped the car. Only the Rolls-Royce Viper engine remained. Martin then built a second Jet Dragster.
Mr. Ree, as this second jet was called, was more stable and aerodynamic but still didn’t hit the 200mph barrier. So Martin shipped a Jet Funny Car from America and named it FireForce. In 1989 FireForce debuted at York Raceway and became an instant hit. The ‘hobby’ became a lifelong commitment, with Martin’s stable of FireForce jet cars performing all over the world, setting record after record and appearing on television. Now an acknowledged expert, he is often consulted for his vast experience and expertise.
Shying from interviews and staying out of the limelight, this softly spoken Yorkshireman perhaps doesn’t comprehend the impact he has had on the sport. Few people will forget their first FireForce experience. Whether he’s scaring them to death or simply mesmerising them, Martin is a true showman.
To present the Bootsie trophy to MARTIN is CEO of Santa Pod Raceway, Trakbak Racing and Drag Racing Europe. KEITH BARTLETT
Lesley Wright concludes with thanks to those who make this evening possible - our sponsors and those who work behind the scenes – our Directors, Selectors & Advisers. In particular I would like to thank Julian Parsons and his team from AMP Audio for putting together such a great presentation for us.
A special thanks also goes to Bev Bradbury who once again has done her usual, excellent job collating all our dining arrangements, in conjunction with the hotel.
Robin Jackson finally had one more special award, Robin says: The British Drag Racing Hall of Fame is a limited company, The British Drag Racing Hall of Fame Benevolent Fund is a registered charity.
Limited companies don’t form themselves and charities don’t register themselves just by magic. They require a degree of knowledge and expertise, and indeed of perseverance, to achieve fruition, and the creation of both these entities for us has been the work of one man.
Many of you will know SIMON GROVES, first as the pit reporter for Eurodragster.com, then as the website’s editor and proprietor, from which he retired this past winter. Nine years ago, it was our great good fortune at the Hall of Fame that Simon chose to join us in managing the organisation.
Having served in his professional life as an accountant in the City of London, Simon used his skills first to form the limited company for us, then to establish the Benevolent Fund and register it with the Charities Commission as an official charity. Further to that, he set up and handled all the accountancy requirements for both entities. His work on the Hall of Fame’s behalf has been inestimable and invaluable and we are indebted to him for his service.
Simon stepped away from his Hall of Fame responsibilities earlier this year to spend more time enjoying life with his wife, Ros, especially their musical lives together. Violins and drag racing aren’t the most obvious bedfellows, but Simon does have a variety of strings to his bow.
But we didn’t want to let him get away that easily, so we’ve decided to create a special award for him as a token of our gratitude and respect. We hope he will take this trophy home with him and display it with pride, so that every time he visits his smallest room, he’ll be reminded of us.
You can view all the presentations of the Bootsies and the speeches from all the inductees at this YouTube video by the British Drag Racing Hall of Fame and Julian Parsons and his team from AMP Audio
We here at Eurodragster.com would like to thank the British Drag Racing Hall of Fame and Julian Hunt for covering the British Drag Racing Hall of Fame Gala Evening, which took place at the Oatlands Park Hotel.

Happy Birthday for today to BDRHoF trustee, and Nitro FM presenter Nikki Marshall. Have a lovely day Nikki! Birthday wishes also to Super Comp racer Sarah Howells and Junior Dragster racer Damion Redshaw.
Thanks to Santa Pod Racers Club secretary Ian Marshall for sending in this message: 2024 is coming to a close next week, and what a year it has been at Santa Pod Raceway and Drag Strips around the UK.
Championships won, new cars, new bikes and new racers. So, what now, many of our race teams will be tucked away in their garages making preparations for the 2025 season, and of course waiting for the other Santa to bring new race stuff for Christmas, just so you can spend more time in the now less-than-warm garage over the Christmas period.
Remember, next year add that heater to the Christmas list, they don’t cost much to run, and have many practical uses; tea stays warmer for longer when the cups in front of the heater, frost bite is a thing of the past, and spanners no longer stick to your fingers, or that cold tubing, you know you want it, but last year the new tyres were more important than a toasty 3KV heater. So if you weren’t fortunate enough to get a heater, make use of the cardboard boxes from the Christmas presents to lay under the car with, just think of your time on the cold floor picking up cold spanners, as acclimatising for Springspeed and the beginning of the new race season, where the temperatures will be 30 Fahrenheit, with a tail wind, brr.
But on the brighter side, run for the box of jets, drill out those 100’s because the air has never been this good. Pro ET will be a bonkers, first round of eliminations, crew members hands in the air as the car goes 2 tenths under and the driver swearing he lifted on the double breakout run. But worry not, as we move on to the new Easter date, the temperature will have soared, the days will be longer and the comp eliminator guys will no longer be bombing indexes. And remember the first time you fire up that car or bike and move round to the water box you will have forgotten about the other stuff. Those cold temperatures and having to drag (pun intended) yourself away from the Bond film, the cosy fire and mince pies into the garage with the biggest steaming mug of tea, add a drop of Christmas cheer, go on, because it’s what we all love, and all of your crew (yes those sat around the fire still) and your fans will be so pleased to see you at the race track again for the beginning of a new season. Enjoy…
So from all of the SPRC Committee, our marshals and Santa Pod Raceway – stay warm, stay safe and have a fabulous Christmas, and we look forward to seeing you all with new shiny bits in the New Year.
Merry Christmas.

Thanks to former editor Simon Groves for taking the time to complete The scoring for the UK National Championships Champions' Champions is based on an event having to be completed for a win to be registered. Race wins are ranked by number based on the driver or rider. Points for car classes are scored and ranked on a team basis, as are numbers of Championships. For teams with multiple cars or drivers changing teams during or between seasons, the compiler's decision is final.
In 2024 the National SPRC Championship again had six events held under Motorsport UK or ACU permit. Our hope that the weather would be equally accommodating in 2024 as it was in 2023 was dashed, as the Festival of Power, Main Event and National Finals were all rained off.
We had first time champions in eight classes, compared with seven last year and a record eleven in 2015. The number of back to back champions from 2023 was four, the same number as 2023 with the record being nine in 2017.
The Motorsport UK Pro Modified champion was the resurgent Andy Robinson winning his ninth British Drag Racing Championship - he also won two National championships in the 1990s before it became designated as the premier title in the UK. Andy won two of the three completed events, with 2024 FIA Champion Jere Rantaniemi winning the other. Andy leads the number of championships won (9) and event wins (23) and points total scored since 1999, ahead of Kev Slyfield, who is second in championships and joint second with Nick Davies in event wins over the period since 1999.
The Funny Car Cup was won by Kevin Kent who won Bug Jam, Steve Ashdown winning the Euro Finals. Kevin is now one ahead of Gordon Smith and John Spuffard in number of championships. He now leads John Spuffard with 11 event wins in the period under review, however Spuff won several events in the years prior to 1999.
The first Nostalgia Funny Car Cup was fittingly won by Tim Garlick who has raced the Apache Firebird, since its debut a decade ago, to many wins before the establishment of the Cup.
In Competition Eliminator, Gary Carr won his first championship with a single win, the other wins coming from Nic Williams and Thirty-under-30 nominee Jordan Payne. Andy Hone has the most championships over the period under review (three) and Nic Williams and Kev Perkins have the largest number of race wins (seven).
In Super Pro ET, Scott Hauser took his fourth championship champion winning one event, the other two completed events being won by championship runners up Giles & Hartley Racing (one by Barry Giles, the other by son Daniel). Over the years, Scott Hauser has won the most championships in the class, whilst six drivers or teams have two each. Barry Giles has won 16 races in the still-show-quality Giles & Hartley dragster.
Brett Featherstone took the Pro ET championship for the second time despite winning no races. The three completed races had two first time winners, Rouven Dawson and Stevie Gates, with international traveller Ronnie Mercer picking up the other win on his way to his Drag Racing Union championship. Seven championships have been won by the newly inducted to the Hall of Fame Team Dark Horse (previously known as Top Banana) of which Lee Huxley has had 14 class wins over the last 25 years.
In Sportsman ET Gary Lake became a triple championship winner on the trot repeated his title from 2022 with two event wins. The remaining two completed races were won by Eurodragster.com sponsor Peter Walters and our Kirstie Tramm. As well as Gary, Craig Wright, Geoff Cowley and Team Rainy City Lightning (Al and Linda Platt) each have three Sportsman ET championships. Craig, with ten wins during his time in the class, leads Geoff Cowley and Rick Denny who both have seven wins.
In Super Comp, Dolly Daydream racer Leah Kellett won her fifth championship (third successive title) with a single win to Paul Hudson's two. Leah now has the most championships in the class ahead of Stuart Doignie. Brian Pateman has the most wins with thirteen over Leah's twelve.
In Super Gas, Stuart Doignie won his first championship since the incredible run of four consecutive double championships in Super Gas and Super Comp from 2015-18. The other completed race was won by Stuart Morrice. Stuart Doignie now leads the late Jon Morton and Tim Adam with five championships to Jon and Tim's four each. He also goes into the lead in terms of race wins over Jon Morton with 14 race wins to the much-missed Jon's 13.
In Topspeed Automotive Street Eliminator, congratulations to Tony Higgs on his first championship and two wins in the hotly contested class. Andy Bond and Al McSweeney each won a completed event during 2024. Steve Pateman leads the overall listings with five Championships, and is equal in wins with Andy's 16.
In Junior Dragster, congratulations to Luke Mugridge on his first championship including one win from the four rounds completed. Eva Davies and Ted Sullivan both had maiden wins, with McKenzie Love being the other winner. Joe Kellett has the most championships with three and Nick Mugridge continues to have the most wins with nine.
Jay Roe won his fourth 8.50 Bike title with a single win to runner up Craig Wrights's two and Ian Crichlow's one win. Jay has won the most championships since the class's inception in 2011, with Jake Mechaell and Mick Winyard have each won three titles. Jay has the most wins, 15 to Jake's 13.
In 9.50 Bike, Dave Hall won his first championship after over 25 years in competion and many congratulations to him. Dave won two races and well done also to Hayden Mechaell and Rob Stanley for their first event wins. Now-retired Rick Sawatszki has won ten National championships to Fred Furlong's four. Rick's 32 wins heads Fred's eleven.
Former Junior Drag Bike quadruple champion Scott Collier won his first ET Bike championship with two event wins to Gary Hester's two; Phil Pratt has a run of five championships, excluding the Covid Cup year, and also heads Gary Hester in events won with 15 compared to Gary's six.
In ACU Top Fuel Bike Steve Woollatt took his 20th championship (16 in the period under review) with a single win in a year of transition for the remainder of the class, six bikes competing in the final round. Steve leads the way in championships won with an unprecedented wins total of 36.
In ACU Funny Bike, congratulations to Roger Moore on his first bike championship. Roger is only the second UK racer to win championships in both car and bike classes, Jon Morton being the other. Dave Peters won two events to Roger's single win this year with Eric Richard winning the other completed race. Neil Midgley continues to lead championships with five over Chris Hall's three, and seventeen event wins to Dave's fourteen.
Mark Dainty won a back to back ACU Comp Bike championship in another highly competitive year. Mark achieved his championship without an event win as the year saw maiden class wins for Jasmine Cordelle and Graham Dance, the other wins being from Danny Cockerill and Dan De'ath. Phil Leamon has four titles to Ivan Birch's three and eleven wins to Ivan's ten.
In ACU Super Street Bike congratulations to Jake Mechaell on his first title winning three races out of four competed, the most of any SPRC class. Alan Morrison Jnr won the fourth race. Steve Venables continues to lead the number of titles with 12 in ACU Competition and has 36 wins leading the points total over Graham Dance who lies second in championships with four, and in wins with nineteen.
Hollie King won her second ACU Junior Drag Bike title, with a single win. The three other completed races had maiden wins from Alia Lester, Declan Butt and John McClean. Liam Holgate and Scott Collier share the lead of titles won with four apiece, and wins with ten each.

Happy Birthday for today to British Drag Racing Hall of Fame director and UK drag racing historian Jerry Cookson. Have a great day Jerry!
Paul Brown and the BBQ Roadster kicks us off today:
Unfortunately, the BBQ roadster remained parked for 2023, and we made it out for 1 day in 2024. A busy schedule with Thrill ride, work and family life. I need to find balance to fit everything above in. A massive kick up the back side from Andy Harrison saying “Come on, let’s get it finished and get it to the track, or it will still there for another year”. Rewarded with the amount of effort and changes made through 2023 & 2024. A huge amount of re-wiring, new callipers, Racepak dash, new sensors added around the car and various other changes to try and get it to run straight.
Run 1: Super Gas run (9.90) .006 light with a 9.81 @ 152mph. Rough guess on box with the headwind and lack of data. Straight as an arrow.
Run 2: Super Comp run (8.90) .013 light with an 8.896 @ 152mph. The first run helped give me some numbers to work with. Straight as an arrow.
Run 3: Super Comp run (8.90) .014 light with an 8.930 @ 151mph. Put a little more stop in the car. The air slightly went away, and the wind picked up. Straight as an arrow.
Run 4: Turned everything off and run it out the back door. Unfortunately, had to lift and coast to a 9.76 @ 91mph.
I finally feel a lot more confident & comfortable running this car than I have ever been. The 2 seater is keeping me sharp on the lights. Hopefully I will get to make a few more outings in 2025 with a new scoop incoming. The highlight of the season was able to take my dad for a 7-second passenger ride for his 70th birthday in September.
Massive shout to Andy Harrison for all the time put in to help make the changes, hard work and the tow to the track. It couldn’t be done without you.
Thanks to little Thomas who blogged the day.
Dolly Daydream pilot and all round superstar, Leah Kellett joins us for her view on 2024 and beyond:
Our sum up for this year.
As most of you now know, at the beginning of this year, I was diagnosed with Triple Negative Breast Cancer (I know I don't like to do things by halves but…) which I actually kept under wraps until the Main Event. I wanted to keep it this way as I wanted to remain ‘normal’ in order to deal with it and try just carry on as ‘normal’ as can be and still be treated ‘normally’ which would help me get through it! We entered as ‘Team Dolly Daydream’ with a view that Joe would take over driving if I felt too rough OR I knew I definitely would by the time I reached a swap over in my chemo treatment plan, to one of the strongest & harshest forms, which would have been around Main Event time. Fortunately but unfortunately at the time, I encountered a massive reaction to my treatments, putting the chemo on hold and I had to undergo early surgery.
I then had to restart my 6-month treatment plan all over again, because of my age and diagnosis (a rare and aggressive form) but because of this, I put having that stronger chemo on hold (until now) which meant I actually could complete the race season, as I managed the first load of weekly chemo treatments!
I definitely would not have managed it though, having being swapped now the week after race season finished, onto the harsher one, so the silver lining there was the reaction, as it gave me the chance to complete the season and not feel so floored! Which brings me to mention I have actually now finished all chemo treatments two weeks ago! 9 months and 22 hits of chemo, finally done, and I move onto radiotherapy next week!
This brought me to announce my diagnosis around the Main Event, as not only was I beginning to look and do things slightly different (hide from the sun, wear a bandana on my head to protect my hair from my helmet/cap etc) and of course also I figured I wanted to give back and help raise a little money and came up with the idea of the Charity Dolly Tops, to help also raise awareness, and boy did we!
The incredible amount of support through that has been something beyond what I ever imagined, and I thank you all so, so much for all the donations, purchase of dolly tops etc. I'm thrilled to announce we raised a total of £6000 which I split between my charities Macmillan & Breast Cancer Now, which are helping support and save not just my life but those of others affected too. So thank you ever so much it's such a huge help and the charities are so grateful and want to thank you all too!
It was tough racing wise this year, we started off broke, ended up almost broke! And competition was tight! Absolutely EVERYONE stepped their game up this year! It only made me hungrier for it, though! Special thanks to Dave Day providing us with a new torque converter for the first race of the year and to Steve Hudson for absolutely all his help with it too! Bro unfortunately missed all his qualifying, but I managed a one shot qualifier and hit number 1! I then unfortunately red lit in the semi’s, but I'm going to blame chemo brain for that one (haha).
With changes to a new shift point made for the new torque converter, it then through all my throttle stop settings out the window, which I tried SO hard to try and get back most of the year! So racing for me became a massive struggle! Finally, we're adjusted the shift point back and with the help of Spencer Tramm with the throttle stop, We got there in the end! Thank you, Spence! Appreciate that so much!! With those changes made, Bro was smashing PBs out the park! With a personal best of 7.26 @ 184mph!! He took the top step at the greenlights and ended up 9th overall in the point standings, Which is absolutely amazing considering he missed an event and a series of events with the car! Not to mention, is also in SUCH a tight field of cars and racers! Really thrilled for Scott Hauser taking the championship in Super Pro! Well deserved! And to Giles and Hartley for runner-up! Well done chaps! Awesome work.
Also thank you to Scott and Geoff for all they do on the car too!! With three of us ending up all battling for that top spot and a tight squeeze for it in comp! I knew i had to up my game, as Paul Hudson and newbie Warren Watts were on it!! Luckily I gained the Euro Finals Win which just about got me to overtake in the points, but it was all still to play for at the National Finals where then we had another unfortunate breakage with a rocker!!
We were offered parts thanks to the awesomeness that is the Drag Fam who always offer endless help and even Andy Fadster up in Manchester even got Purdie to stop on her way to pod whilst he brought her some parts for us! Which unfortunately were not the right fit, but how amazing is that? And cannot thank enough for!!
I was even offered a ride from my brother from another Billy Everitt and my good friend Marc Huxley, if we couldn't fix Dolly (Thanks boys! Again, how amazing?!) so i could at least try and get 1st round points, but as luck would have it, Bobbie Wallace and family saved the day with a part that worked! And with the endless help from the fabulous Jeff Bull, we were fixed! Thank you ever so much as always to Jeff and Belinda for their continued support and all they do for us and of course the Wallace family! And of course all of you that helped!! Then the rain stopped play anyway… but then actually sealed the championship for me!
I want to say a HUGE well done to all the class. You're all amazing, but a special well done to Warren, who not just totally smashed super comp, ending up runner-up! But for all he has done for the class as well, becoming our class sponsor and all the incentives has been just what we needed! Thank you so, so much! And of course, a massive well done to Paul who has had endless car troubles, I'm so thrilled for you doing so well this year and finishing a tight third! It's been great having Steve Hudson back with us this year and (thank you, Steve, for always helping with the car too!) newbie Ellie Brown who has stepped up from juniors and smashed her first year in comp! Well done, Ellie, and loved having Ronnie Mercer join us! Along with Andy Bond, who was SO much fun to race with! And of course, original Super Comper Brian Pateman back with us too! Love having all of you with us that join comp, as at one time sadly it was a dying class and we so want to keep it alive, and this year felt it was coming back to life again so please let's keep it this way!
I think I've waffled enough, but I have to end this with a HUGE Thank you to all at SPRC, from ALL the incredible track crew, Ian, Dave, top and bottom end guys! The pairing girlies, Paul and the ‘pull us round’ guys, The sign in office girlies, ALL the marshals, all the commentators providing us with all the race info! All the awesome photographers that capture all the moments! And of course to Keith for providing us with this fabulous place!!
Finally, thank you to obviously the chief who is dad, we couldn't do any of this without you, and I genuinely don't know what I would have done this year without racing, It has been the focus that has got me through most of my journey that is for sure!!
Thank you to all of you, who ever help and have helped, supported, just everything, we always appreciate everything so thank you ever so much and obviously especially with the fundraiser, that has absolutely blown my mind at the kindness and generosity from each and every one of you. So thank you once again and cannot wait to do it in a few months time!
Have a great christmas everyone! See you in the new year.
Much love to you all - Leah and all of us at Team Dolly Daydream xxx
- Photo credit to Callum Pudge for the group shot of everyone in their dolly tops!
- and whoever took the one of the car on the track?
Finally joining us for this episode, we have "Rattler" driver and Foxbody fan, Daniel Holloway:
At Festival of Power 2023, the motor grenaded in Rattler, not much was salvageable. It was gutting at the time, but I managed to save the car from hitting anything (bearing in mind slicks on hot oil with only rear brakes isn’t synonymous with being able to stop!). It meant having to put the racing on hold for a bit and sort my wedding car out for May 2024, my Foxbody Mustang, which needed some work.
A new Blueprint 408w crate engine was ordered through Topspeed Automotive, an uprated C4 gearbox sourced, and legalities sorted to put an MOT back on the car for the first time in about twenty years. It took until one week before the wedding for it to be ready and to pass, phew! A big burnout on our day was a success!
The plan was to let better half Holley compete in Sportsman ET with the car for the rest of 2024, a decent step up from her stock SN95. Holley took to it and all the new procedures that came with really quickly which was a proud moment; burnouts, using the line lock, manually shifting, keeping an eye on the gauges etc.
Of course, even a street spec 408w in a Foxbody is still a recipe for a quick street car, and trying to keep it under the 12-second cut-off for Sportsman turned out to be quite difficult. At one point with the weather good, the timing at a measly 22 degrees total, short shifting at 4800rpm and running the throttle stop just over halfway under the pedal, it was still trying to creep into the 11s. Eventually it caught us out in racing where, without a minimum 10.0 roll-cage, we were disqualified in competition for going under 12.0 despite a red light in the other lane: first or worst rule. So, this winter sees a 10.0 chromoly cage going in, something I was keen to avoid given it's a full interior road car, but ultimately, it’s too fast to not have the basics, and we won’t be disqualified by that way again, so there you go!
I did dabble in Street Weekend 2024 myself with Holley’s expert navigating, this time with the car let loose. Despite fighting a misfire all weekend, we still managed to turn in an 11.60 at 116 on my final run (still with the odd misfire), enough to put me 44th out of ~170 and crucially gain automatic entry for SW ‘25 which was the goal. I feel the goalposts will be moved next year, so will have to try harder!
On our return from our honeymoon in August, we were ecstatic to discover Holley was pregnant with our first, due Easter Sunday ‘25: the new Messiah?! Either way, hopefully another new generation of racer along with the other newborns the track has seen recently!
Meanwhile, I’ve been piecing together replacement parts for Rattler over this year, and am just about to take delivery of a new 1500hp capable Edge Performance built power-glide, which, including the parts sourcing from the states, Nick turned around for me in under 2 weeks. Great job!
Of course, I spend a lot of time with the in laws trackside at Walters Motorsport and their blown methanol Super Pro dragster, which naturally gets one learning about the setup and having a thing. You can probably guess where my mind was going at this point; Rattler was going to be stepped up into a blown methanol, albeit small BBC, altered. Young Dan, as a child looking forward, could never have imagined being fortunate enough to be able to do this, having watched the adults do it at the time. With the knowledge and experience of father-in-law Richard to help guide the changes and tuning directions, I felt confident we could do it; the combination should safely run in the mid to late 7s on minimal boost and timing. The goal will be consistency, or as much as you can get with a blown methanol altered, to compete in Super Pro; it’ll be tough but hopefully great fun.
Given the imminent arrival of baby however, on no other than the Festival of Power 2025 race weekend (hospital bag will be packed!), it wasn’t going to be wise to try and go racing with a completely alien setup which logistically is harder to run throughout the year, let alone the costs involved.
So 2025 will be spent continuing to accumulate the parts I’ll need to try and get out with Rattler in Super Pro in 2026, so long as the baby hasn’t rinsed us dry! At the same time, and after two years of not racing by the time the first event comes around, I’ll be having a play with the No Fox Given Foxbody Mustang in Sportsman, a return to the class where it started for me with my trusty S10 SS Truck Norris which still sits proudly on my drive!
Thanks to Paul Marston for sending in this update on Manston Raceway Park, Paul writes:
Before I start, I must say a BIG shout out to KYE KELLY RACING who last weekend took their NO Prep Kings 1980s Steel Roof and Quarters Trans Am to the Snowbirds at Bradenton Florida to compete in the Outlaw Pro Mod class. To say this is a class full of bears just does not do it justice.
It is a who’s who of Pro Mod drivers and the biggest Pro Mod field I have ever heard of. 66, yes you heard right SIXTY-SIX entries. You must qualify in the top 32 to run on Sunday. Kye’s car isn’t a state of the art Pro Mod, it runs a Reid cased TH400 with 80+ runs on it. It’s a No Prep car. Well, he qualified and ran the table, running a 3.59 to clinch the final. If you get a chance go watch it on U-Tube.
Still very early days, but we wanted to give people a flavor of what classes we want to run at Manston Raceway Park. As I have said before Manston Raceway Park is a grass roots No Prep style track. Let me just expel a few myths right here and now, just so people can get a better understanding. A lot of people here in the UK will never have experienced this style of racing before.
The track distance is 1/8th Mile. Which is a standard distance at a lot of No Prep tracks. No Prep does not mean that there is no track prep whatsoever, remember before the advent of Santa Pod and Shakespeare County Raceway, a lot of the old dragstrips were No Prep and people ran some very respectable times.
The track will be cleaned and scrubbed, it WILL build up a usable amount of traction and rubber in, quite quickly. We are concrete out to about 150-180 feet then asphalt. This is not Santa Pod and never will be, however it will provide a decent surface where teams will have to learn to figure out power management. Which is the great challenge and leveler in No Prep, this is how a guy with not the most powerful car, can beat a lot more powerful entries, simply by being clever and using what he has, the most effectively.
We will be running under a sanctioning body and will tech cars in. More details will come on all of that, let’s get to the classes we will be running. To be clear, these classes are for cars only. These are the classes we intend to run at our events, however they will all be subject to a minimum car count. We will most probably not run all the classes at all the events. I will publish the classes that we intend to run at the season opener soon.
BIG TYRE
1/8th Mile Heads up. Flashlight start. Traditionally the fastest class, there are a lot of very capable big tyre cars in the UK. Big Tyre is exactly what it says, any tyre size goes, now you could run a small tyre car in big tyre if you wanted to double class. But you can’t do vice versa. This is also the class for all AWD Cars. I will publish more detailed rules, but in a nutshell, this is it. Other than safety there are no rules, as many power adders, no minimum weight, slicks, drag radial or treaded dot, run what ya brung and hope you brung enough.
SMALL TYRE
1/8th Mile Heads Up. Flashlight Start. This class is by far the biggest in the States ATM. It has just exploded; it has the biggest car counts. Small Tyre is a maximum tyre width of 10.5 inches, other than that it’s the same as big tyre.
TAILGATE
1/8th Mile Heads Up. Flashlight Start. This is a brand-new class to the UK, this is a pickup truck only class, hence the name Tailgate. (we might allow Jeeps) There are a lot of real nice and a few fast trucks out there. This will be a non-tube chassis class, unless enough full tube trucks want to run. In which case we will run them separately. We want street or street appearing trucks, back half is fine, front half is fine. If you are unsure, contact us. Slicks allowed, two power adders, no weight or tyre size restrictions. This could be a real fun class and if you double class you could run in maybe small tyre as well or big tyre.
FWD
1/8th Mile, Flashlight Start. This is a class we have decided to trial, as there are a lot of very good FWD cars out there now. So, if you support this class we will continue to run it. The rules will be simple, and we will post them as soon as they are finalized.
STICK SHIFT
This could be FWD and RWD, no 4WD, as the sign says, needs to be a 3-pedal deal. Any power adder, any size motor, any tyre size.
RWYB
As always test and tune, we do intend to have a timing system but this needs to be confirmed. RWYB will run at ALL our event dates.
Nostalgia Doorslammer – Heads Up 1/8th Mile Flashlight Start. Pre 1989 Doorslammers, all types English or American.
INDEX CLASSES
If there is interest in some index classes, most probably 6.50 (9.75 ¼ ET) and 8.00 (12.00 ¼ ET)
TRUE STREET
True street will be a full interior class, Taxed, Insured and a Mot, will have to complete a cruise. This class is Heads Up 1/8th mile eliminations.
DAILY DRIVER
This is same as above, but cars will return from the cruise and drive straight to the staging lanes and run 3 passes back-to-back. The winner will be the car that is the most consistent on their timeslip.
So, for us to run the classes you want, we would like to ask for help. Please contact us and let us know what classes you would intend to compete in. This will allow us to run what you want. You can register your vote by messaging us on our FB page Manston Raceway Park or our No Prep Racers Club FB page. Remember your vote counts and matters. Even if you intend to just RWYB, let us know.
Apologies for not posting this earlier, but it has been busy here, a lot to do. I must thank all the people who have stepped up with offers of help, support and advise, you know who you are, and I appreciate you very much. It will take all of us to make this happen. If you think you can help us out with equipment of just time. Please touch base with me, many hands make light work. Many thanks to Eurodragster for posting this.

Thanks to Remco Scheelings from Drag Racing Europe for this report on American Jake Opatrny:
The American Top Fuel driver Jake Opatrny will take part in next year’s FIA European Drag Racing Championship. Opatrny, from McHenry, Illinois, will drive Jens Jonsson’s Nitrobear Top Fueler. The participation of Opatrny is great news for the championship as it will definitely raise the American interest in the FIA European Drag Racing Championship.

Happy Birthday for today to VW Sportsman racer Andy Bambrick and Sweidish Funny Bike racer Peter Andersson. We hope you both have a great day.
Leah Morrison starts us off this episode with her view of the year:
I really enjoyed the whole 2024 season, my first season on a geared bike (Kawasaki 250cc), all my friends and family around me such as the Morrison racing team, other juniors and their families and my dad going on to win the European championship!
Going into the 2024 season from a Sym 125cc to a Kawasaki 250cc required me to adopt a whole new routine and have to get used to the bike, which I think i adjusted to rather quickly. I did struggle with a few things like getting used to the start line routine, hitting shifts, e.t.c but nothing I couldn’t get used to. The bike seemed to be running consistently and getting me into good qualifying positions throughout the year, also managing to run bang on the ET sometimes! I ended up finishing the 2024 junior drag bike championship in 3rd!
Winter upgrades have already started, I will be having a bigger and faster engine next year which I’m looking forward to and hoping to get some new PB’s. I am really looking forward to the 2025 season and what it has to bring!!!!!
Next out the start is Jess Bishop with her "Nightmare" Pro ET Dragster:
At the start of the 2023 season, I debuted the Pro ET “Nightmare” dragster as my own. With a rich history, I knew this car would be an incredible drive. At just 16 years old I gained by licence only weeks before the season started therefore, we had limited testing.
At the first event, Springspeed Nationals, in my second ever qualifying run, I managed to get NO.1 qualifier and running a perfect dial in. The remainder of the event I focused on staying calm and doing what I love in the new class. I managed to get to the semi-finals with no breakages, which unfortunately wouldn’t be the case for the rest of the season…
The Festival of Power caused the biggest problem the team have had in racing. In the second round of eliminations, around 60ft, the car stopped. I instantly knew something wasn’t right and was towed back to the pits. Here we found out that the gearbox had seized solid, with damage to the input shaft and plates. Absolutely gutting but humbling at the same time as we realised the highs and true lows of drag racing. At this point I began to realise how lovely the Pro ET class is as everyone who could come to help or give advice, to which we are forever grateful for.
At the Main event, the issue was still not fixed, unfortunately, as the box was stuck in reverse. No runs for us that event, which made us realise how hard it was to just sit back and watch after racing for a few years. However, yet again, everyone who could was at our pit to help in any way they could.
Summer Nationals came along, and the issues were finally fixed! We spent this event getting back into the swing of things hoping everything was race ready, which it was.
Euros yet again gave us issues. During the second qualifying run, whilst on the trans brake, the car launched. Unusual. After missing 5 qualifiers and having troubles in the other 3, we found the issue. The RMP wire had come loose from the MSD box. The last qualifying round was the test for the hopefully solved problem, and thankfully everything was working perfectly again.
As the event continued, I went rounds seeing the win light and, in the finals, Pro ET were the last class able to run due to the delays and curfew and I managed to get another win light and the event win! This was my first event win in my 3 years of racing and with many tears from myself and the crew, it was safe to say we all will cherish that moment forever.
The national finals began as I was leading the championship points but after a leaking oil cooler and semi-inconsistent numbers, we unfortunately had struggles getting the car to perform to usual standards and lost the first round of eliminations. We ended the 2023 season second in the championship just behind Leigh Morris who was so deserving of the title.
2024 was an odd year to say the least. With dad, Paul, having a medical complication leading to him losing his driving licence and job at the start of the year, we had no choice but to have this season out and get him recovered, which I’m glad to say he fully is now! I luckily am surrounded by some of the kindest people in the world who gave me the opportunity to still come to the track and enjoy this year from a different perspective. I have so much respect and gratitude to everyone who asked about my dad and let me come with them this year. Although it was strange not racing myself, it was so nice to have a season to watch European records being set, friends winning events and being surrounded by my racing family.
2025 over the past few months, we have been making progress to get back racing in 2025 and hopefully, racing the full season. Dad has still not been able to have his HGV licence back, so some plans have changes. He’s working ridiculously hard while I’m studying at university to make sure we are able to be back next year. The checklist is slowly going down as plans begin to fall into place as we now have a trailer and tow vehicle. We still have the dragster to work on, but fingers crossed, will get everything done. With any luck, we should be ready for pre-season testing in March to get both myself and the team back into routine and prepped for a hopefully exciting year!
Crossing the finish line to conclude this episode is drag racer and piano maestro, Elliot Day:
The 2024 SPRC Street Eliminator was challenging for us at Double Trouble racing. We started off at the Easter Nationals doing a PB for very cold conditions and managed an 8.32 on a cold track (2 degrees). We then progressed onto the Doorslammers which we thoroughly enjoyed, although at this point it was more and more evident that the car was getting violent in the first 300 ft, so chassis tuning was needed. After reducing the anti squat % the power was pushing the car forwards rather than up! 2024 was the first season of me completing and driving the cruise, which was absolutely awesome. When my mates at home have their fast BMWs etc and I show them my racecar, their reaction is priceless.
We have been struggling with carburettor issues a little, particularly on the adjustable power valve but will be in contact with Kevin at CSU soon to address it.
After getting faster and faster, it was evident that the RJS chute was not working too well, as a lot of ‘dead air’ was being tangled up (due to the nature of the body shell). So an investment for a wind up spring c02 cannon will be on the cards.
Though being only 20 years old and now going into my 4th season of SPRC Street Eliminator i am balancing a degree in law alongside my motorsport; so, next year will be a challenge to complete fully but i’m sure we will make some of the big events and hit that elusive seven second run.
See you all in 2025,
Elliot

Happy Birthday for today to Super Pro ET and Wild Bunch racer Callum Swinchatt and to VW Sportsman racer Holly Sanders. We hope you both have a great day.
We were sad to hear of the passing today of Roy Ayton aged 65 years old who raced with his cousin Martin Ayton in the 2004 season.
Martin contacted Eurodragster.com with this sad news on Roy, Martin says: "He was a typical petrol head working as a bus mechanic until he took medical retirement, but always had an interest in anything mechanical"
Roy had planned to rebuild his 1962 Mini next year and see his cousin racing again next year at Santapod.
This photo of Roy and cousin Martin in a tent at the Pod in 2004.
We at Eurodragster.com send our deepest condolences to Roy's family and friends.
Thanks to Nïamh Frances Smith for sending in this update on UK NOSTALGIA SUPERSTOCK seeking sponsorship for 2025, Nïamh writes:
It’s that time of year folks!
I’m putting out our annual call for sponsors for the 2025 season! Sponsors are really important for the class, without them we couldn’t do anything that we do: prize money, trophies, party, Dragstalgia BBQ, events like the NEC car show etc.
We get a lot of support from them, but there’s also some good marketing opportunities and brand exposure on offer for our sponsors in return! If you would consider sponsoring NSS in 2025, please drop a committee member a message via our Facebook or an email at this link, and ask for more details or a sponsorship proposal to be emailed to you.
Thank you to all of this years sponsors, we will be contacting each one of you soon to see if you would like to continue your support into the 2025 season.
Happy Birthday to many times-retired car and bike racer Paul Watson, VW Sportsman racer Lottie Bradford, former altered racer Mark Richardson, Super Twin racer Marko Lantto, Stock Eliminator racer Kjell Erickson. We hope you all had a great day!
UK Comp Eliminator racer, Jordan Payne, has been named as an honouree on Drag Illustrated’s prestigious 30 Under 30 list – announced earlier this morning.
"I am overjoyed to have been selected by Drag Illustrated!" said Jordan. "It’s incredibly exciting to be recognised alongside so many talented individuals and I’m very proud to be standing with them."
The Drag Illustrated 30 Under 30 Program recognizes and celebrates the achievements of young individuals in the drag racing community. Aimed at highlighting the next generation of talent, the program showcases those under the age of 30 who are making a significant impact in the sport. The initiative seeks to inspire and motivate young people to pursue careers in drag racing and aims to ensure the continued growth and evolution of the sport for future generations.
"It’s been a tough secret to keep since I first found out back in October," Jordan explained. "I’ve been bursting to share the news, and now the official list has been announced, I’m finally able to share my excitement! I’d like to thank my sponsors - VP Racing Fuels, CTR Developments, Nimbus Motorsport, Cam Auto Developments, Racetech, and Fuelab - for their backing. Their continued support has helped me to receive this great accolade!”
Jordan is flying out to Indianapolis this Wednesday to attend the Performance Racing Industry (PRI) Show, where the Drag Illustrated 30 Under 30 ceremony will take place. At the event he will receive his 30 Under 30 jacket and meet many influential people from within the racing industry.
“I’m really looking forward to the trip,” Jordan added. “It’ll be great to meet with my sponsors who are exhibiting at the show and I’m also looking forward to catching up with my friends from KB Titan Racing, GESi, Edelbrock and Rottler. I’d like to thank everyone at Drag Illustrated for choosing me to be a 30 Under 30 Honouree this year. The recognition really means a lot and I’m thrilled to be acknowledged by such a credible outfit within the world of drag racing! I’m confident that this achievement will help me to make big steps towards my ultimate goal - to compete in NHRA Pro Stock!”
Jordan will be documenting his upcoming trip to PRI on his social media channels. Make sure to keep up to date on this link and by clicking here.

Thanks to Santa Pod Raceway's IT/News Media Dave Jones for sending in this annoucement of Santa Pod Raceway's Outstanding Social Media Presence Award, Dave writes:
In the age of social media, publishing video and photo content out on social media has become ubiquitous, but that doesn’t mean to say it is any good. However, when done right, social media content can be thoroughly entertaining to the viewer as well as beneficial to the poster on multiple levels.
A great video posted in the run up to an event, on race day, or in retrospect can entertain fans of the team and the sport of drag racing as a whole. It also serves to promote the team’s sponsors, the track’s sponsors, the sport and not least the event.
Santa Pod Raceway has a marketing department who work fulltime to promote its events, venue and the sport of drag racing through multiple advertising platforms including social media via YouTube, Facebook, Instagram, TikTok, LinkedIn and X. Our efforts can only reach so far though and as event and sporting representatives we are always grateful for the drag racing related content created and posted by race teams.
As such Santa Pod Raceway are proud to sponsor the inaugural “Outstanding Social Media Presence Award”. This award is intended to recognize and reward the efforts race teams go to in helping promote their teams, the events they attend and the sport as a whole.
The winner will be chosen by the SPR marketing team but we would like the drag racing community to nominate contenders for a short list. Who is your favorite drag racing influencer? Who’s TikTok feed do you follow closest? Who’s videos are you most excited to see drop? Let us know by clicking here with links to their best content.
Thanks to Liam Kimberlet from Santa Pod Raceway has sent into Eurodragster.com this update on Santa Pod's Business Directory: The Santa Pod Business Directory is here! A phone book of companies owned or ran by people involved in the sport.
The idea is that the information is publicly available to everybody within the sport to access and use. There is a link at the top of the website for anybody who would like to add their business to the directory.
Happy Birthday for today to Tierp Arena announcer Christer Abrahamson, former Sportsman ET racer and photojournalist Nigel Holland, Danish Top Fuel crew member and KEG mastermind Karsten Andersen, Supercharged Outlaws racer Ian Merryweather, Outlaw Anglia racer "Anxious" Ian Tweddle, Pro ET racer John Bean and to Sportsman ET racer Clive "Dan" Dredge. We hope you all had a great day.
Pro Modified racer John Tebenham has sent in this candid photo of his kitchen with the caption "The only place to keep your 2022 NHRA blower warm...in the kitchen."
Which is another way of saying that JT and his five second '53 Corvette Pro Mod will be back in the 2025 season. So all of you queuing to buy the car will have to look elsewhere (other Pro Mods for sale are available).
Mark Coulsell from Limited Funz Racing lends us his thoughts from 2024,
Mark Coulsell - BallBreaker - Super Pro ET
2025 will be our 3rd year in Super Pro ET & we are absolutely loving racing in this class. I (Mark) raced with The Wild Bunch for 26 years & enjoyed every moment of it. It's a fantastic class where I achieved some great results, made some lifelong friends, had so many laughs & made many memories. Unfortunately the numbers were dwindling at MSA/MSUK level & we were hungry for a bigger challenge plus with Harley & Ada racing in Junior Dragster, it made more sense & was more cost effective to do the same meetings that the Juniors were invited to so that combination was what made us make the very difficult decision to leave to race with Super Pro ET.
2023 was a fantastic season for BallBreaker with us winning SPRC Best Appearing Car just to add to the delights. We were all looking forward to 2024 & it started very well. Summer Nationals is where things started to go wrong & we encountered a few issues. Problems didn't got away & Euro Finals & National Finals were both fraught with more issues! The 1st elim at the final meeting of the year was the final straw when I heard a weird noise & felt a strange vibration before even doing the burnout so clicked it off.
We still haven't completely finished stripping everything to see what the full extent of what we're looking at (£$£$) & as I write this, The Chief, Steve Cassisi, is on his way for another day of analysis.
So what 2025 will bring we don't yet know. Obviously we want to race but with the ever rising cost of living & race parts, we may have to sit this one out or rob a bank ;) Fingers crossed things aren't too bad & we can come out & race with Super Pro ET & maybe even improve on our 10th position but only time will tell :)
Ada Cassisi - Cherry Bomb - Junior Dragster JMA
Ada has been loving her time racing in Junior dragster in Cherry Bomb which is one of the LFR family cars, originally Harley Coulsell's first Bandit 1. Ada struggled to find consistency this year due to her almost out growing the car and with it's little engine. She did manage to achieve 10th place in the championship which we as a team were all very pleased about. Ada is very excited about stepping up into Harley's JMA Bandit 1 in 2025. If we can find a new body it will look very similar to the current Cherry Bomb, if not then you will see Bandit 1 out for another year with Ada at the helm.

Next up is painter and decorator, taxi driver and Ford fan, Terry Newton:
2024 has been an amazing year for us. We started the year doing 8.9s. And decided to see what we could do. We broke and engine early in the year. Then doorslammers was excellent. We hit the magical world record for a fwd ford. The meguiars ford focus managed 8.76 at 162. We did 8.76 at 165. So we are pushing with the old zetec engine. Back end of the year after struggle with drives shafts we did 169 mph with a delicate start so there's plenty more to come.
Target for 2025 is billet block fitted and shoot for the sky and try for low 8s with the van. 180 mph is the target We also should have the zetec dragster out with me displaying my L plates. It will be the first zetec turbo dragster in the world I believe. Target is 6 seconds and 200 mph.
Nathan Hulkes , Mustang driver lends us his thoughts on the season:
So last season for me was building the car. I brought the car from Andrew Chilton in October 2023, the Przybyls imported car from the states and did a stunning paint job on it. I got the car to mine for Christmas that year and set about the build. In the year I completely wired and plumbed the car, built the 420ci LSX and turbo system. Edge performance built me a 2000bhp capable powerglide.
I managed to get the car out for the fireworks event at Santa Pod this year, unfortunately only managed one run due to the weather which netted me a steady 11.7 at 144mph. It was only to make sure we was ready for next season anyway. It showed up a few things to changed for next season.
So this winter I have a small oil leak to sort, remake and move the puke tank to the boot. Plus a few other little changes. I’m hoping next season to run in super Pro ET and 7.60 Heads Up, but it’s going to be a steep learning curve. Would like to say a massive thank you to my wife for putting up with me while never being in the house.
Massive thanks to ASD Fuel Tech UK Authorised Dealer for all there help, John Sleath Race Cars for the mapping , Edge Performance Transmissions, Straight To The Point Racing, Hashtag Mechanic Ltd sponsoring, Pete Smith Pragmatis sponsoring me, Andrew Chilton sponsoring all my laser cut CHILTON MOTORSPORT Lazer Cutting. Lastly Jason Clark Joe Baxter and Jamie binnie. Everyone needs a team behind them.

Thanks to Paul Marston for sending in this latest update on Manston Raceway Park and 2025 Dates and Events, Paul writes: We are very pleased to announce our provisional dates, these are booked dates with Manston Airport and are subject to being granted events licenses by the local council, so still plenty of work to be done. But it all has to start somewhere.
I would like to personally thank all the people who have contacted us with offers of help in various departments, we still need a lot of equipment, expertise and staff/ volunteers to make this happen. So if you have not already touched base and can help please do.
Our provisional dates for 2025 are as follows.
- Season Opener and Inaugural Event - 12th-13th April 2025
- Second Event - 3rd-5th May 2025
- Third Event - 7th-8th June 2025
- Fourth Event - 26th-27th July 2025
- Fifth Event - 23rd-25th August 2025
- Sixth Event - 13th-14th Spetember 2025
- Last Event - 4th-5th October 2025
There is a possibility that we will run a test day on the Fridays prior to and event, this is subject to the council license, the economic viability, staff availability of doing so, etc. It is still very early days.
We are currently formulating our class structures for the dates that we have available. This is grass roots No Prep 1/8th mile racing, most of our classes run will be heads up. We will be announcing these and the format in which we will be running our events soon. We do hope to have a timing system in place at some stage during the year. So we are inviting any organizations/ informal classes who would like to attend one or more dates during the 2025 season. Now is the time to contact us to discuss your needs and options available to you. Two maybe three of our dates are already spoken for however that still leaves potential room on the other five dates.
Just contact Paul on 07831 65023 or via our FB page Manston Raceway Park.
We will have more news very soon about the classes we will be running, I can assure you, there will be a few surprises for sure. Please do bear in mind we are grass roots and what we run will reflect that.
Once again I would like to thank Santa Pods upper management for their encouragement and vision. It is places like Manston Raceway Park that will hopefully start new racers on their journey to gravitate to National Event competition someday. Grass roots tracks are important.

Thanks to Howard Holmes for sending in this update on American Super Stock Revival 2025 which will take place at Melbourne Raceway, Howard writes:
Round 1: 12th-13th April 2025
Round 2: 10th-11th May 2025
Round 3: 14th-15th June 2025 (Street Weekend on Saturday)
Round 4: 12th-13th July 2025
Round 5: 2nd-3rd August 2025
Round 6: 30th-31st August 2025
Each round will have qualifying on Saturday. One-shot or emergency qualifying early Sunday, followed by eliminations on Sunday.
Once again, American Super Stock is a dial-your-own bracket championship, with a sportsman tree. Participant's four best results count towards the championship, so it's no problem if you have a holiday.
There is also an event at Melbourne on October 4-5, which we can use if an event was a rain-off for example.
None of the dates clash with our friends, Nostalgia Super Stock at Santa Pod, the two championships are complementary to one another.
American Super Stock will run under the same rules as in previous years, which will be available to participants soon.
Melbourne Raceway will have a brand new state-of-the-art timing system from the first event. Although unlikely, should there be any unsolvable teething problems at this event, we'll throw in a wildcard and run this round as a 'heads-up' round.
Round 3, June 14-15, is Street Weekend. Saturday will be busy, but most SW participants will head off after lunch, so there will be plenty of opportunity to put in some qualifying runs on Saturday.
Thanks to the American Super Stock Tactical Division for thrashing this out, and to Trevor Duckworth and the Straightiners Crew for building, investing and supporting drag racing.
Follow us on Facebook and we’ll see y'all at the track!
Nikki Marshall from the BDRHoF Benevolent Fund has been in touch to say a huge Thank you to everyone who purchased raffle tickets at the BDRHoF Gala Dinner which took place on the 23rd November.

The money raised will go to help those involved with drag racing, including racers, marshals and others, where situations have placed them in financial difficulty.

Thanks to Markus Münch and the Drag Race Union for sending this report of the Drag Race Union Championship Celebration into Eurodragster.com. The celebration took place on 19th October, 2024 at Knight Riders Clubhouse, Bad Kissingen. Markus writes:
The 2024 season was given a fitting farewell by the DRU. Over 100 people came together in Bad Kissingen/Germany to officially end the season. After a delicious dinner, the winners and runners-up received their trophies, non-cash prizes and prize money for their achievements in the Pro ET and Supro ET Challenge. For the first time, the winners of each challenge were able to take a seat on the DRU throne.
In detail. In the late afternoon the guests arrived. At around 6.30 p.m. there was a very tasty buffet and the drinks were already flowing. Traditionally, DRU chairman Jonny Niesner presented a small thank you gift for organizing the celebration at the beginning of the trophy ceremony. Rosti from the Knight Riders MC was happy to accept it. Like the trophies and the DRU throne, it was made by the custom artist Wild Jack.
In the traditional “Practice Tree Shootout”, each team registered in a challenge could nominate a representative who had to go through qualifications and eliminations. This year the winner received a €555 voucher from “Hoosier Rennreifen”, a “Snap On Tools” goodie bag for the second place and a Hoosier backpack for the third place. Armin Widmann, who unfortunately didn't drive at all this year, won, Frank Römer came second and Oliver Krautberger came third.
Now there were trophies. First for Supro ET. A very close season lies behind us. Angel Romero wins ahead of Frank Römer and Robert Gassner, Alain Dürr and Alex Halter.
A similar picture in Pro ET. A very close season brought Ronnie Mercer the title, Thomas Bublitz, Niek de Kruif, Janine Petzold and Til Schöninger followed. Ronnie Mercer and his wife Annette were unable to attend in person, but were joined via video call by Anne Catrin from Team Bublitz and were able to watch the ceremony from their home in the Lake District, northern England. That was a very beautiful thing.
The evening traditionally ended with drinks, conversations and good music from the rock n roll duo “Mr and Mrs Curtis” until early in the morning.
A special thank you goes to all the sponsors and supporters who made it possible with small and large amounts to hand over a total of €12,000 in prize money for the two challenges this year. The winners each received €2,400.
Thank you all for coming along, supporting and celebrating. The DRU is already working on next season.

Rob Carter is first out the gates in this issue:
Must apologise in advance writing is not my strong point. 2024 had its ups and downs. The ups were completing all 6 rounds in Street Eliminator and VWPro, wining Street Weekendand runner up in Doorslamers. The best result by far and most fun was finishing Swedish Drag Week, what a country and people and also great company from the English contingency that I went out with. Downs, struggled all year with my new LS long block, kept having to swap my old engine in for various reasons. Also a niggly electrical problem that kept cutting the engine out randomly.
Plans for the winter, Full engine re-wire and more diagnostic on the motor, new heads for the motor to hopefully release its full potential. 2025 will compete full season SE, rounds of VW Pro only when not on the same bill. Swedish Streetweek definitely. Try different tracks in the UK and Europe, really enjoying no prep on the slicks over 1/8 mile, so definitely more of these events.
On top of that I’ve just built another engine for my daughters 75 Passat, making some big changes over winter so she can run in VW Pro next year. Also got an 83 Passat Wagon project on the go that my wife will compete in VW Sportsman next year. Hope you can pick the bones out of this? Let me know if you need anything else.
Thanks Rob
Next off the startlne is Motorsport UK Pro Mod Champion for 2024, and veteran of the lanes, Andy Robinson, the teams thoughts are shared by Stefani Kate Fisher:
The 2024 season for the Anger Management Pro Modified Team was full of highs but not without its struggles.
It started with Andy and the team being very unsure we’d even make the first meeting. Over the winter months the team made the decision to change the location of the motor and drivetrain in an effort to improve static weight distribution. Our team was noticeably missing from the original entry list because there just simply was not enough time to complete the chassis modifications, however with the weather being so unkind again and the date of the Festival of Power moving by 6 weeks, there was a bit of hope so the work pressed on and we were able to get 1 run in which we were pleased with. To put this into perspective the car was still on the jig on Thursday afternoon while qualifying started Friday morning.
The Doorslammers and Main Event were both fairly successful with some solid 5 second passes, a new speed PB, and qualifying in the top 3 at both meetings, however we exited in round 2 at both events and suffered from a bit of engine damage which was frustrating.
At The Summer Nationals our season really came together, a new ET PB with a 5.82 and a win was a great achievement. This started a 4-event final round appearance streak, only stopped by the unfortunate rain off at the National Finals.
We took the win at The Bug Jam and The Greenlight Nationals (in Greenlight Pro). Despite positive outcomes, at both events we were unsure whether we would even make eliminations due to engine damage caused by valve springs breaking – the engine damage was minor, but the knock on effect caused a huge amount of work for the team and it really was only down to the determination of the entire crew that got us to the start line ready to race.
At the European Finals, we qualified 6th with a respectful 5.92. We battled through the fierce competition on race day knocking out 2 of the potential 4 teams that could have taken the FIA Championship, only to fall short due to a broken air fitting on the transmission in the final. Still, a great meeting for us and a result that we are extremely proud of.
After this success the MSUK Championship was tied up as soon as we signed on at the National Finals – This made us officially 9 x MSUK British Champions.
So what about the 2025 season?
We aim to defend our MSUK Championship, but also we are pleased to confirm our plans to add the Greenlight Nationals to our 2025 schedule. We’re excited about how the Greenlight Pro class can expand in the future and want to be part of building this into something spectacular. If you have a fast car (especially one that runs on Nitro) then we want to race you! Dragsters, Funny Cars, Altereds, Import cars, whatever you’ve got, lets get involved and make this something special!
Of course we must finish by saying thank you to our partners and sponsors:

Superbird Racing’s Don Scott and Grace Roaf write:
We had a great first full season in Pro ET attending all rounds with the new 493 (small) Big Block from Dave Billadeau as a trial to see if we can get more reliability and consistency than the 572 Keith Black Hemi we’d been running for many years previously and what can we say…
For an engine that was originally destined for low 10’s, maybe a 9 if we’re lucky, we’ve run a PB of 9.70! (Twice as a perfect ET that still wasn’t good enough for #1 qualifier in both cases, always the bridesmaid… but congratulations to Rouven and Marc who pipped us at Euro Finals and National Finals!)
Our self-imposed goal was to finish top 10 in Pro ET but after a tricky Main Event with alternator issues resulting in us not making the cut for the 32 car field and dragging our average points per meeting down, we finished 14th in the points overall which is still respectable and we are happy!
Also had a play out in Super Gas this year, which was great to try an index class, race against different cars and give Don a go at a Pro tree in competition to see what lights he can cut! We hope whoever has the red marquee puts it up in the same place next year so Don can judge lifting off to that 9.90 now the engine has settled in and got a couple of tenths faster.
A full permit season in NSS as well, ending up 3rd in the Championship, many congratulations to Adrian for the win (very well deserved) and Mick for runner up! Always amazing to see the turnout for NSS at the lifestyle events too – Don even got the perfect reaction time at Dragstalgia too! Don made the decision to step down from the NSS committee from 2025 to focus on his own racing and enjoy these busy meetings more.
We’ve had some close races across all the classes we’ve entered this year, the pair of us work well as a team, have a great laugh along the way, and have achieved some great results together, but it has also been really nice to have Colin, Grace’s dad, helping out a bit this year as well – the big blue thing with a wing is heavy to push sometimes and an extra pair of eyes (and hands) is always helpful, so thank you!
Don has already started a full check over on the Superbird working from front to back and preparations have begun for 2025 with new front tyres, slicks and a new fuel pump system.
With Don driving great with the new engine, enjoying racing and Grace now having more data and timing tickets to nerd out on, our goals for 2025 are to try again for a Top 10 finish in Pro ET and get that illusive number #1 qualifier, hopefully with another perfect ET thrown in somewhere over the year as well – ultimate crew chief badge of honour!
As always, a big thank you to everyone who supports our racing campaign – not limited to sponsors, friends and family!
A very special mention to Dave Billadeau for building a kick-ass engine, Chris Goodale for any parts you could want (also big thanks for organising the inaugural GAS Bash after Mopars – so much fun!) plus anyone who offered help of parts, tools, hands over the season as we sorted out issues with alternators, carburettors, fuel pumps, punctures… but what’s racing without problem solving? See you at the track in 2025!
Happy Birthday for today to Supercharged Outlaws racer Brian Watson, Supercharged Outlaws owner and, from 2025 Thundergod driver Duncan Beard, FWD racer Calvin Skerritt and Old School Stocker racer Steve Howe, and Super Gas/Pro ET racer Simon Fulton. We hope you all have a great day.
Kieran MK1Keiran Jenkins posted on his Facebook this video of Luke Spiteri who ran his first 9 second pass at the MDRA National Finals with a new PB of 9.93 at 146 MPH securing a spot on the European FWD list. you can view it at this link and Kieran has more videos to watch on his page.
